As I walk the streets of this town I used to know,
I remember our old movements in shades like monochrome.
The shadows of our memories haunt me at night,
I think about that black car you used to drive too fast to give me a fright.
I haven’t been back in a while since I’ve moved off to college,
I left this small town to get some big girl knowledge.
You said you would be there for me, through all of my faults.
It seems that orange card with the promises of a future,
was hiding the truth behind our emotional somersaults.
I guess next time I’ll look closer, beyond the lies of some high school loser.
